Being active citizens
Since Brannon Forest was annexed into the Town of Maggie Valley, a number of residents have served on town boards, including the Planning Board, and in elected positions. We currently (as of March, 2024) have one neighbor elected to the Board of Aldermen (Tim Wise) and two neighbors appointed to the Planning Board (Chuck Cummings, Bill Sebastyn). The late Ron DeSimone, a resident and former POA president, served as Mayor of Maggie Valley.
Residents are urged to stay active and knowledgeable, vote, and participate in local and regional events and elections.
Voting
Register to vote at Haywood County Board of Election, 63 Elmwood Way, Waynesville, 828-452-6633. Most Brannon Forest residents vote at the Maggie Valley Town Hall, 3987 Soco Road. Some Turn a Bout and lower Brannon Forest Drive residents vote at Jonathan Creek Fire & Rescue, 87 Joe Carver Road, just off Jonathan Creek/Highway 276. Check with Board of Elections for your specific polling place.

Recognition of Brannon Forest
The Town of Maggie Valley honored Brannon Forest on the occasion of our community’s 25th anniversary in July, 2022 with an official Proclamation. (See image.) The Proclamation, in part, reads: “Brannon Forest exemplifies the best of Western North Carolina, including spectacular vistas, quiet relaxation, natural mountain streams, clean mountain air, and the friendliest of people.”
